A good breakfast place is very important to me. There aren't a ton of options in Deep River, and fortunately Bears Den does not disappoint. Very good breakfast. As it's popular, I'd recommend calling ahead for reservations.

I have stayed at the bears den a few times, I was very happy when I was greeted by a nice friendly lady, room was clean with tv and mini fridge, only thing I would suggest is the addition of coffee maker in room... dinner was great !! I have attached photo of my dinner, very large serving and on top of that I also order a salad which I did not need... my quest ordered the butter chicken and I couldn't resist a taste and boy oh boy so good! They offer take out as well, so if you are in deep river, pick up would be recommended!

The food my family ordered was mediocre at best as well and all of it took quite a while to arrive despite us being the only ones in the restaurant.

This is not the first time I have eaten here and received sub par service but it will be the last.

So far everything on the menu that I have tried has been very good with generous portions for the price. Server is very friendly, capable and helpful. A great place for lunch with a good variety of a few selections in each of the standard categories, and they also do vegetarian when asked. It is a frequent draw on our team.

While waiting for our food she took a call and told the caller she was too busy to name off all the salads on the menu, yet again we were the only people in the restaurant aside from those eating at an already manned buffet service. She was apparently also too busy to check up on us as to how our food was. When finished she asked if we would like coffee or desert and we had to remind her about the children's desert that came with their meal. The whole meal came to just under $50.00 with no alcohol being ordered.

The waitress was pushy and grew irritated with us quickly when we were not ready to order after having just sat down not long prior. She mentioned a buffet but no price which took our prompting and was "around $30 a person." I ended up ordering the venison and wild boar burger. It was quite dry and very tough. There was a very nice smoked cheese on it and the bun was decent but the whole effect was ruined by iceburg lettuce and a clump of red onions. I paid extra for the sweet potatoes fries but wish I hadn't as they were quite bland.

Had breakfast there recently. Service was prompt and friendly. The eggs and potatoes were ok, but the toast was soggy with cheap margarine, the beans dried up my mouth, and the coffee was poor-to-mediocre at best. I ordered sausage with my breakfast but got bacon by mistake. I didn't complain because my dining partner got the sausage she ordered and it was not good. But then I tasted the bacon and it was not much better. A poor experience overall.

Edit: 5 stars for the restaurant, probably 1 star for the motel. I had family come up over Christmas, they stayed at the motel. Elderly couple. Their biggest complaint was what they paid for vs what they got. They paid $117 a night for a room with no soap or shampoo (there's a universal dispenser, unlabeled), only two small, non-bath towels of cheap quality, no night stand, issues with bathroom fan not working well, a bed that was not firm enough despite assurances during booking that their beds were firm (he has back problems and NEEDS a firm bed) and a couple other minor things they mentioned I can't recall at the moment. They said if they'd only been charged $70, or even as much as $80 a night, they probably would have not complained, because you get what you paid for. But $117 a night for this room, way over priced for what you get. Honestly, I'd recommend staying at the Pine Motel for the best price.. About $70, plus you get enough towels and soap/shampoo. Then drive in and eat breakfast at Bear's Den.
